25/365: Do you know Harvey Finkle?

I am probably the luckiest photographer in all of Philadelphia. Today, I got to hang out with Harvey Finkle, the fantastic documentary photographer who has chronicled Philly activists for decades. I went by his studio to pick up some copies of prints he made from a 2009 demonstration that Casino-Free Philly had. He was giving them to us, along with a print that we can auction off at our upcoming silent auction.

Harvey is a real hero of mine. He's made a career out of being a documentary photographer, and yet he still gives prints away to causes he supports! His photographs are stunning and inspiring. Someday, I want to be that talented. You can check out his work at his website.

And we'll hopefully be seeing more of each other. He recently started shooting digital (times, they are a-changin') and I told him that I'd be honored to teach him my digital workflow, and how to use LightRoom, if he'd critique my work. Gosh, I'm so excited!

This shot is of one of his tables, in his very cluttered studio. I wish I'd had my DSLR with me, but the iPhone did fine in a pinch.
