I attended a protest today that some friends organized calling for SEPTA (the Philly transit people) to take the Male and Female stickers off their monthly passes. For people who do not look exactly like what society says a "man" or a "woman" should look like, the stickers mean that they may be harrassed, or even have their pass confiscated. There is no reason for the M/F stickers to be on the passes... but yet SEPTA refuses to remove them.
